Man könnte es zumindest meinen. Hier die ersten Zeilen eines offiziellen Support-Dokuments zu den neuen alten weißen MacBooks und dem 17” MacBook Pro:

FireWire connections are still the fastest way to migrate applications and data from an older computer to your new computer, however, these new models now offer the ability to perform a system migration over network connections. Und jetzt noch aus dem Support-Dokument der kastrierten Alu-MacBooks:

All Macs running on Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11 or Mac OS X Leopard offer the ability to perform a system migration over the network. This gives you more choices and flexibility in migrating your applications and data. (Quelle)

Ich würde sagen sie verarschen den Kunden. Man ist also flexibler, obwohl jeder alte Mac FireWire hat? Und man ist dafür mindestens um den Faktor 4 langsamer (bei 100MBit Netzerkkarten). Von eventuellem Protokoll-Overhead noch gar nicht gesprochen.
